7 Tips to Increase Productivity

With the ever-growing presence of technology, we become more easily distracted by our mobile devices. There are only so many hours in a day and living in a digital age time management is crucial.

You can increase your output one of two ways. You can simply put in more working hours or learn to better manage your time so that you are getting the most out of each day.

Here are 7 tips for increasing your productivity and getting the most out of your day.

  1. Write out a to-do list each day
Writing out a list of things you need to accomplish each day will keep you focused with a clear direction of the things you need to get done. When creating a to-do list be sure to prioritize the most important tasks so you can get them done first.
  2. Get enough sleep
It’s important to get enough sleep and shut down your computer when you find you’re getting lost in the late hours of the night. Sleep is just as important as the work you need to accomplish. Not getting enough sleep will make you less productive in the long run.
  3. Eliminate distractions
Turn off your phone, close all the extra tabs in the window you’re working in and shut down any other distractions. Eliminating distractions will help you keep your focus on the task at hand and allow you to get things done more efficiently. Keeping music on in the background may also help you remain productive while you work.
  4. Set a timer
Timing each of the tasks you need to complete is a great way to ensure that tasks are being completed in a timely manner. It’s a great way to manage your time effectively and also become aware of what kinds of tasks you spend the most time on.
  5. Exercise
Research shows that midday exercise helps boost productivity in the workplace so be sure to take breaks from your tasks and take a walk during lunch.
  6. Keep a journal
Having a journal and pen with you at all times will help increase productivity by giving you the space to write down your thoughts, ideas and to-dos so that your subconscious doesn’t keep distracting you with them. They’ll be kept in a safe and secure place that you can always turn to later. Keeping a journal and writing down your progress will also hold you accountable for your level of productivity.
  7. Love what you do
Enjoying what you do is the ultimate way to increase your productivity. Being passionate about what you do keeps you invested and motivated.
